Hazard pay will now be paid to government employees who physically report to work during the implementation of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) as well as modified ECQ.

This comes after President Rodrigo Duterte signed Administrative Order No. 43 on June 1 allowing government employees who are physically on duty during ECQ and MECQ hazard pay of up to P500 per day.

Workers in a regular, contractual, or casual position, as well as those employed under a contract of service, job order, or similar scheme, are all eligible for the benefit.

Those who physically report for work during ECQ or MECQ "are inevitably exposed to the risk of COVID-19 infection and other comparable health threats and risks," according to Duterte's AO, which was made public Wednesday.
